This was a lovely animated holiday special. They don't make very many Halloween specials anymore. It's as if American society wants to let it die, which is a real shame because Halloween is my favourite holiday. I absolutely love this movie. It was made in 1993 but it has a feel to it that makes it seem far older. It just has an old fashioned quality to it that I find strangely comforting.
It's based on the story by Ray Bradbury, author of The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenhiet 451 and he even narrates it, which I love. Bradbury is one of my favourite authors. Sure this film has a few slightly dark moments but it's actually very educational and at the same time heart warming.

The Halloween Tree is a classic with outstanding Halloween animation. I have a copy of this on laserdisc including a voice over option by Ray Bradbury. Bradbury walks you through the film and his input on its making and how it's really the most recent revision of his book. He also talks about his childhood inspiration for the tale. It's phenomenal....now why on earth can't they transfer this from their laserdisc master to DVD with the same perks??? HERE ME OH CARTOON NETWORK GODS....put this on DVD to equal the quality of the laserdisc!!

Check out this wonderful Ray Bradbury movie with Leonard Nimoy doing a voice. What is odd is that it isn't on DVD yet. Worse yet when you go to buy a used copy on VHS it will say shipping is 2.98 but watchout at checkout because all of a sudden it is $5.19 for everyone of the sellers. Truth in advertising? Forgettaboutit!

I came across the book "The Halloween Tree" by Ray Bradbury years ago and
I knew it would make a great film. I found this VHS tape a few years back and
even though its changed some it still has the magic and is well worth seeking out. Its a big shame, this should be on DVD and should be watched
by both the younger elementary/middle school kids, even adults find this
such a treat at this Halloween time of the year, it has a message woven
through that makes this special, spooky in some spots but a visual
treat for the eyes, love the amimation and the journey's
they are taken on. Can't recommend this one any higher. Lenny Nimoy and
Ray Bradbury himself narrate this engrossing, wonderful tale. THIS NEEDS
TO BE REMASTERED AND TOUCHED UP and PUT OUT AS A DVD?? I bet you could
really make this soundtrack come alive.

i am so glad that i finally found this movie. i loved it when it was shown on tv, but i haven't seen it for years. i actually forgot the name of it. this is such a wonderful, educational, and spooky halloween treat. a great movie that everyone should watch during halloween.
