| Customer Reviews:
Great diapers for the environmentally conscious at a great price January 5, 2009 We have used Seventh Generation diapers along with other commercial diapers (Pampers, etc) and have found SG diapers to be just as effective as other brands in terms of not leaking. It is also very easy to tell if a SG diaper is wet by touching the outside compared to other brands. The cost on Amazon is comparable to buying other brands from retail stores and is much cheaper than buying SG diapers at retail stores (as much as $18 for 1 pack of 40 diapers in the store!). Add in that Amazon offers a 15% discount if you use their Subscribe and Save program and that these diapers are chlorine free and are about the least environmentally damaging of disposable diapers and these are a great deal! My only criticsm is that they seem to run a little small. When my son was 11 lbs, the Stage 1 size was too small.
Overall a Great Diaper! January 5, 2009 Seventh Generation likes to disclose all the ingredients they use in their products. That includes their chlorine free diapers which range in sizes newborn to size six. This means that not only are Seventh Generation diapers chlorine free they are also fragrance and latex free as well as being hypo-allergenic. For the mother of a baby with sensitive skin these diapers are heaven sent.
I'm not going to wax poetic about these diapers despite the fact that I could. I am just going to state plainly why I think they are the best diapers around and deserving of an MPR five star rating. It isn't just because they are a green product either, believe me I have tried my fair share of those and some are not worth any amount of money. I love Seventh Generation diapers above all others for the following-
1. No chlorine and no fragrances = no diaper rash. Ever. If I happen to run out and need to use another brand of diaper my kid automatically turns red with a rash. I go back to using Seventh Generation and the rash disappears.
2. These diapers are super absorbent. The polymer used is very absorbent and not as harmful as other diaper brands. My daughter can go all night in these diapers and the diaper is still dry to the touch on the outside which is never the case with other brands. I stand amazed.
3. The resealable closure tabs and elastic gatherings on the legs fit very well and while the sizes seem to run a bit smaller and shorter than say, Pampers or Huggies, they still work remarkably well and don't fall off.
4. Seventh Generation diapers break the myth that green products automatically cost more money. I bought four packs of size one diapers (176 diapers) recently and spent less than $50. That is about $25 cheaper than if I had bought the same amount of diapers from another name brand. I could buy the store brand but then I would have leaky diapers, more rashes and tons of laundry to do. Is that really worth saving me a few dollars? No, I think not.
My only real complaint is that I wish I had tried these diapers out with my first child. It would have saved me a ton of money in diapers and diaper rash creme and I would have had a happier baby.
The only diaper for Seamus! January 4, 2009 My baby was only one week old when he started having red skin and water blisters where his diapers were. We tried three different kinds of diapers(and a dozen different stores), before we found Seventh Generation. Yeah! The redness got better right away, and he didn't have any new blisters! This is the diaper for us! (cloth diapers worked really well for his issues but, he kept getting a horible rash due to moisture. This is the only diaper, I have found, to be Chlorine AND Laytex free. We think they are wonderful!
Decent Diaper January 3, 2009 'Yes' they're expensive, 'yes' they do leak 10% of the time, and 'yes' they're not the prettiest ones on the market....but they are eco-friendly and do the job. As far as the leaking problem, I've only experienced them leaking when it's been 2.5+ hours since the last change. If you can keep track of the time and are able to make the switch to a new one when necessary - you should be just fine. Just don't attempt to use them overnight. Buy another brand of diapers specifically for nighttime use.
Not Very Good Diapers January 1, 2009 We're using size 1 for my 1-2 month old son.
I received these diapers for free from Amazon's baby registry promotion. They are akin to a paper lunch bag with velcro and elastic. They are not very absorbent and frequently leak. We can only go a maximum of two or three hours before serious leakage occurs. I only use these during the day when I can change the diaper every couple of hours and do laundry.
Many times the diaper doesn't even last that long. It only took 15 minutes today for it to leak.
The diapers run smaller than Pampers, Huggies and Luvs. The elastic on the closure tabs does not stretch enough to ensure a snug, leak-free fit. They tend to roll at the waist-line which contributes to the diaper's leakiness.
I gave these two stars because we can keep these for daytime use and until our free diaper promotion runs out. Then--it's back to Pampers!
