As good as it gets! December 28, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Thanks for all the reviews here at Amazon, I bit the bullet and bought the Breville Elite a month back.
My juicing needs are as follows: - get some vegetable juice into my 2.5yr old twin boys who don't eat as many vegetables (but eat enough fruits) - make straight carrot juice for myself as I just *love* carrot juice - buy a juicer that is robust and one that will last a long time, if taken care of - frequency of juicing is 1-3 times a week
The performance of Breville against my needs has been plain awesome. This is my first (and hopefully the only!) juicer so I can't cross compare to another product.
The Pros: - Have made various fruit and vegetable juices till date and it works great - Made decent spinach juice a few days back and the performance juicing spinach is good - The pulp is reasonably dry if I don't rush the juicing (see Cons for more) - Cleaning is relatively easy, although you need to ensure that you clean the filter/cutting basket thoroughly (see Cons for more) - The noise level, size, spitting out of small pieces and vibration etc are all within my tolerance limits
The Cons: - I noticed that if I juice 3 carrots at the same time, the pulp is quite a bit damper that when I juice one carrot at a time. Since the filter basket has a fine mesh, it is possible that the speed of juicing with multiple carrots could be overwhelming how much juice can flow thro' the mesh. I have since gone to juicing one long carrot at a time without making the entire juicing process too long and the pulp is quite dry - I also noticed that the times the filter basket is not thoroughly cleaned, the pulp is damper than when the basket is very clean. It again goes back to the "through-put" of how much juice can flow through a partially clogged filter basket.
To summarize, the only circumventable annoyance I have with this machine is the dampness of the pulp. This I have reduced to the filter basket performance because of either the speed of juicing or clogged pores; and both are manageable. So, I am giving this machine "5 Star" rating and it is as good as it gets.
Juice without hassle December 16, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great machine! Like others have said easy to clean. There are five things to clean, one the pitcher, two the top piece where you feed the Juicer, three the middle blade holder just below under the feeder, four the blades and five the pulp catcher in the rear and (hint) if you use a small grocery bag or freezer bag in the pulp catcher you have four things to clean. Some have said this is very loud. As compared to what? It is quieter then my blender and louder then my stand mixer from Kitchen Aid. It is about half way between those for noise to me as Juicers go it is very smooth and quiet a juice press would be quieter but in no way faster. I do not have to raise my voice over it to talk to someone that is in the kitchen, lol with my blender I do have to raise my voice. This thing is fast, quick and absolutely shreds veggies and fruit in a blink there is still some moisture left in the pulp not a lot but for bakers it would be perfect you can use them for apple sauce, carrot muffins or cake the pulp is not to dry to be totally useless to bake with just enough moisture so things don't taste dry and bluk, lol. Two easy to use speed settings one for soft and one for hard veggies and fruit. The feed tube is huge like others have said just drop in whole small apples stacked 2 to 3 deep in the tube and just cut large apples in quarters to fit. Throw 3 good size carrots in at once. Will juice greens as well. Nice size red off button takes just a little pressure to turn off. Breaking this machine down is flat out a breeze just pull forward the lock bar, raise the top, twist the middle to the left and it raises out along with blades. Reverse the steps to install only extra step in the install is when you set the middle piece in place you will have to drop in and align the blades inside and with a very small amount of pressure press in place. This part sounds hard but it's not it truly is way easy for anyone to do. (Caution careful around the blades it is easy to forget that they are extremely sharp because they are so tiny at the bottom of the basket and there are a lot of them down there. Do use the brush that comes with this machine to clean them it made it a snap and is the best way to clean the blades and basket screen!)
One other note, It gets a good breeze that comes from the front of this machine around the spout and into the pitcher after all the blade basket is spinning in there at 13,000rpms if what you are juicing is building up a good froth above the juice in the pitcher stop before the froth gets three quarters up in the pitcher or expect to have veggie froth flying everywhere there are vents at the top of the pitcher and open area around spout biggest veggie to watch for this is carrots, lol. This juicer is sleek and fits under my cabinets with a couple inches of room for storing away when not in use. One more thing to me the 800jexl is the way to go, it is almost all stainless steel cleans up way better then the models with plastic shoots.
Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite, 1000-Watt Juice Extractor December 12, 2008 We absolutely love this juicer. It is quiet and powerful. We had a smaller juicer before, but it does not compare to the Breville. We highly recommend it.
Happy with juicer December 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My husband and I researched juicers before ordering the Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain. We have processed at least 30 5-gallon buckets of small apples this fall and have been very pleased with the quantity (about 5 qt/bucket)and quality of the juice. It has been a great way to use the apples that are too small to use any other way. I also heated the juice and filtered it through cheesecloth before making it into hot apple cider for a party.
The best of the Best... December 12, 2008 Though kind'a pricey... at least when I purchased it. Its a great gift. I bought it for a friend and they really enjoyed it.
