 Apple & Potato Peeler December 22, 2008
I purchase this for my daughter and son-in-law. I received one last year as a gift and love it. This product looks great and will last a long time. Great for peeling apples, potatoes. Can also use for slicing apples for a apple pie.

This kitchen gadget is a great timesaver for pie making, and in addition, since my wife no longer has any teeth, and I have full plates, it enables us to eat apples without cooking them.
In my family, we always called gadgets of this sort "fruit lathes" because that's what they are. There are several brands, each differing in some detail or another, but I picked this one because of 1) the design of the peeling blade, and 2) the availability of replacement parts.
Suffice it to say that the thing works up to expectations ... within an hour of its arrival, we had a pie baking in the oven.
Works like a Charm December 17, 2008
This is a great apple peeler and corer. It's well made and does the job perfectly. I was very happy with this purchase. The corer function actually spiral cuts the apple/potato as it cores it. In the case of a potato, you end up with the center of the potato. Even with this it actually works really well for making scallop potato's. The only problem we have noticed is that it doesn't work very well on soft apples. It tends to just break them apart. Also, the spiral slicer tends to butcher your apples a bit. We made a whole bunch of dried apples and honestly, we didn't care that the slices were not perfectly clean. It's so handy and quick you won't notice. This is a wonderful peeler. Highly recommended.
Still the Best December 14, 2008
The Back to Basics Apple and Potato Peeler is still being made as well as ever. My old one has peeled bushels of apples over the years and is still as good as ever. The person I gifted with the peeler was excited to see it work; it will give her arthritic hands a break.

We're very pleased with the apple corer - peeler. We've started making old fashioned apple butter and this has been such a time saver.
