I HAD THIS WAFFLE MAKER BEFORE. I HAD IT FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS, THE ONLY REASON IT BROKE WAS MY TEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TRIED TO MAKE WAFFLES,SHE POURED TO MUCH BATTER IN AND IT WENT UNDER THE PLATES,THAT SHE DID NOT HAVE IN RIGHT.I HAD A HARD TIME FINDING THIS.I TRIED MANY OTHERS SOME I PUT IN THE TRASH AFTER THE FIRST USE.WENT TWO YEARS WITH OUT HOMEMADE WAFFLES.THEN I FOUND THIS I LOVE THIS WAFFLE MAKER IT IS THE BEST.THE PLATES COME OFF FOR EASY CLEANING.THE LIGHT GOES OFF WHEN WAFFLES ARE DONE,TAKES THE GUESS WORK OUT OF IT.THE WAFFLES ARE PERFECT WHEN THEY ARE DONE.THE BEST EVER WAFFLE MAKER.
Excellent Waffler Maker December 23, 2008
I am pleased with this waffle maker! It's really like the ones our mom used, It's also got a lot of excellent features that make my life easier. It is the best one of all the others I have purchased recently.

Does what a simple waffle iron should. No extra bells and whistles. Waffles are baked to perfection.
The one drawback is that the exterior gets really hot, handles included. You should be aware of this and use caution and common sense when using this appliance.
The plates are reversible, but I have not used the 'flat' side. The power cord is a bit short for my liking, but the arrangement of outlets in my kitchen exacerbates this short coming.
I would recommend this to any one needing a waffle iron if they are willing to use care when handling it while cooking.

Black & Decker G48TD Grill and Waffle Baker I received this item quickly, it works like it was described. The inserts are removeable...which can be washed...definitely a Plus for my wife. I would recommend it to others.
