fun but familiar March 10, 2008 kind of fun but very similar to other games ,like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, except with smaller mission teams(with less controller change options) and NO team member choice options, which is the biggest game flaw. plus the voice acting, while well done, is flawed
it's ok January 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is just ok. You just walk around and punch people. This kinda game is for little kids. Adults would get bored of it really quickly.
What a superhero team game should be January 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought Justice League Heroes used for $10 because I had heard people say it wasn't that great, but I still wanted to try it because I love DC Comics. I was blown away by this game. It's one of the most fun games I have ever played.
The game is a fairly simple beat em up adventure with RPG elements thrown in. As you fight enemies you gain experience, which makes your characters stronger. You can decide which abilities to improve, and can even slot boosts to those abilities, to make them even more powerful. The game looks great, except for a couple character models that look nothing like their comic book counterparts, but that's forgivable. The superpowers your characters possess make the fighting more interesting, and the multiple characters means that you can experiment with different teams and character's abilities. I was thrilled to see the inclusion of Green Arrow, who has always been one of my favorites. There are a few levels where you have to play as certain characters, but the rest of the time you can choose a two person team to use on a level. The story is pretty good too, and you don't have to be a comic geek to follow it. The game is very linear, but for this type of game that makes sense, as you never spend too much time in one area. There are also a lot of unlockables to purchase, both new characters and outfits that give your characters different attributes. The game also lets you start a new game once you've beaten the story mode once using the characters that you've already leveled up. You can also play two player co-op, which I have with my girlfriend, who loves the Flash. The controls are fairly simple and easy to pick up. My girlfriend rarely plays video games, but she had no trouble at all picking up this one.
There are a couple things I don't like about this game though. One is that there are three green lantern characters to choose from, the default character John Stewert and the unlockable characters Kyle Rayner and Hal Jordan. Unfortunately, they all have the same powers, so you're really just getting two new outfits for John Stewert, but you have to level up them up. Also, I have nothing against Huntress, but she has never been a member of the Justice League. I don't see why she was included instead of other characters, such as Hawkman, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Plastic Man, Red Tornado, or any other number of heroes. Oh, and some of the voice acting is off. I don't see why DC/Warner Bros. or whoever makes the decisions thinks they need to get different voice actors for all the new video games and movies they're coming out with. As long as I've been into comic books and watching cartoons, Kevin Conroy has been the voice of Batman. Ron Perlman isn't bad or anything, but he just doesn't have the voice. Conroy does. Most of the other's don't sound too bad, except Hawkgirl, who sounds like an audience member on Jerry Springer. Also, although you can play through the game again, you have to start at the beginning every time, and you can't skip levels. the last thing is that even with the characters abilities at max, beating the game on the Superhero difficulty level is impossible. I even turned the cheats on, which I rarely do, and I was still having trouble so I gave up.
All in all, this is one of the most fun games I've ever played, and it is definitely worth buying.
Pretty Good... December 24, 2007 Let me start off by saying that I am a huge DC Comics fan. I was waiting for a long time for someone to make a Justice League video game. When I got this game, I was pretty impressed. The story is AMAZING!!! I love everything about it. The gameplay...not as much. Don't take me wrong, the gameplay is good, it's just not great. You start off in the game having to be as certain heroes (you play as two heroes each level except the last where you play as seven). Later on in the game, you can choose which heroes you want to be, which is cool especially for a DC fan. You can play as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash (the Wally West version, although Jay Garrick is an unlockable costume), Green Lantern (John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, and Hal Jordan), Martian Manhunter, Zatanna (why?), Green Arrow (an unlockable character), Aquaman (an unlockable character), Huntress (an unlockable character), and Hawkgirl (an unlockable character). There are also tons of reaaly cool villains (which I will not name to give away anything). There are only two things that are not great in the game. One, the gameplay, and two, I wish they could've thrown in more heroes. I mean, why Zatanna and Huntress? Why not Plastic Man, Black Canary, the Atom, Firestorm, or Blue Beetle? Oh well. Overall, this game is really good.
Not Marvel, but not bad December 19, 2007 Kinda of supprising for me was this game. I am a huge super man fan and grew up on DC comics, however my husband is a marvel fan so we first bought the marvel version of this game and then this one. I have to say marvel put it together alot nicer then this one, and easier to understand. There are a few bonuses to this game, but i wont ruin it for you. Over all it was a blast to play but marvel would have gotten 5 stars
